CTV: Get Turned On will take students on a wild ride through the ’80s with television flashbacks when Capers hits the stage this Wednesday. Tristan Tom, a senior communication studies and theatre major, is the executive producer of this year’s student-run production.
Chicago sings and dances its way into the heart
I’m decidedly ambivalent about Chicago. I really, really liked it, but I kind of feel like the spawn of Satan for not LOVING it with every cell in my body. It’s a heck of a lot of fun and proof positive that the movie musical is back in a big way, but it’s no Singin’ in the Rain.
Kmart in limbo
The fate of Brookings’ Big Kmart is still up in the air as the Kmart corporation reconsiders whether to keep the store open or shut it down. “Nothing would please me more than to have the store stay open,” Leonard Witte, Kmart store manager, said. Kmart announced last Tuesday that it would be closing 326 stores nationwide, including the Brookings store.
New staff bring change to KSDJ
KSDJ, SDSU’s campus radio station, is up and rolling for the spring semester with encouraging news. Last semester, the station’s transmitter was operating at a fraction of full power. The studio’s equipment also needed improvement. A special allocation of $10,000 that KSDJ received last fall paid for a new transmitter and other items for the station including a transmitter controller, EAS (Emergency Alert System) upgrades, an Aphex compeller (which makes the station’s signal clearer with a professional sound), and new microphones.
Sum 41 search for voice on ..Infected
In 2000, Papa Roach’s Infest was released, catering to the angst of abused and forgotten kids in America. Now, after suffering through two years of bands and albums that have played to the lost demographic, Sum 41 has finally released an album that successfully dilutes teen-angst from bile to Kool-Aid.

Personal motivation is sometimes just not enough when it comes to exercising or getting ready for a game. Music has been linked to an impact on people’s brain when being physically active. Music tapes have been tapped into the market that are proven to enhance any workout.

Wrestlers place 8th at Duals
The SDSU wrestling squad placed eighth at the Cliff Keen/National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals that were held this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio. While the team suffered three losses, Tyler Jones at 184 and Tim Boldt at 197 both went a perfect 5-0 for the weekend.
Knitting: A passion for needles and yarn
Her gaze rests intently on the two sharp needles dodging and weaving between her hands, the skilled tools of a craftsman working their magic on a thin strand of cloth. For Rayelle Ulvog, knitting is one of the best activites in her life. Ulvog, a sophmore business major from Groton, started knitting when she was 10 years old when her mother attempted to teach her how to knit.
