The South Dakota State University swim team traveled to Grand Forks, North Dakota this past weekend to compete in the University of North Dakota Invitational. With some cancellations and schedule changes, the invitational ended up being dual for SDSU and UND.

Greek groups get going
South Dakota State University fraternities and sororities continued to host events this week as a part of recruitment activities that began last week. The events are organized by local Greek chapters in order to find new recruits to join the organizations.
Do evaluations matter?
Some students hate filling them out. Others can’t wait to tell a not-so-favorite professor exactly what they think. Some take their time. Others rush. Some students think they make a difference. Others doubt they have any bearing on anything. You might compare the teacher evaluation surveys that students fill out at the end of each class to a customer satisfaction survey.
Money will surface, officials promise
Though last fall’s freshman enrollment was the largest in SDSU history, and admissions estimates for next year are even larger, there will be no problem in securing money to cover Jackrabbit Guarantees, top university and Foundation officials said. “If you’re asking me if the money is in the bank, my answer is no,” said Bob Miller, the SDSU Foundation Board member who spearheaded the program.
Historian gives lecture on film festival namesake
Nearly 40 people were in attendance last Tuesday when the director and president of South Dakota’s only film festival gave a lecture on the festival’s namesake, Oscar Micheaux. President of the Oscar Micheaux Film Festival and Micheaux historian Richard Paposek presided over the presentation, which was scheduled as part of Martin Luther King Jr Day.

Iraq or North Korea: Who should we go to war with?
In recent weeks, the situation in both Iraq and in North Korea has become worrisome. In all likelihood, the United States and at least a few allies will be at war with Iraq very soon, but a war with North Korea is not likely. Why is this the case, when North Korea has been taking actions of late that seem to be designed to provoke American anger and Saddam Hussein has been doing nothing different than he has done for a decade?
