Muslim month of Ramadan begins

Mohammed ?Ozzie? Ahmad For The Islamic Society Of Brookings

As you may be aware, the Muslim month of Ramadan began just over a week ago. Ramadan is not a “holy” month for Muslims as incorrectly portrayed, but a “blessed” month. The difference between the two is that in a holy month, Muslims are prohibited from certain things as opposed to Ramadan, which is blessed in terms that a Muslim believes his good deeds are multilied many times and hence he tries to make the most it.

O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaq
