The annual cross country run will be held Saturday before the game. The three-mile route will conclude in front of the grandstands on the athletic field. The runners will compete for the Ewing trophy, put up this fall by Coach Ewing.
November 8, 1956
Two State College sophomores and two Brookings High School students survived a one-car accident early Sunday morning on Highway 77 south of Brookings. The group was believed to have been returning home from a dance at Dell Rapids when the car went off the left side of the road, swerved back, entered the right ditch, and rolled several times. One student was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital by ambulance while the other three were treated and released at the Brookings hospital.
November 9, 1971
SDSU students will be asking the Board of Regents for closed door visitation in the dormitories. SA President John Ramey told the students that in supporting the recommendation he would try to get the University of South Dakota to go along with SDSU’s stand. On paper, the USD’s visitation program is operating with open doors but according to Board of Control members and other students at the meeting, in actual practice, USD has closed door visitation.

A Brookings collector’s etching valued at less than $1,000 was stolen sometime Sunday from the Ritz Gallery in Solberg Hall. The print, part of the visual art department’s show titled “Brookings Collects,” is untitled, signed by Dali and part of a large unnumbered edition. Keith Corbett, safety and security chief, said there were no signs of physical entry made to the building. He said although there are no leads now, safety and security are still investigating the theft.

The Pride of Dakotas, along with other entertainers, opened for President Bill Clinton Monday night during a Sioux Falls rally, the final stop in his election’s eve campaign tour. After a stop in Iowa to help bolster the re-election of Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Clinton began his late-night speech just 40 minutes before election day in the Sioux Falls arena.
