November 4, 1919

A Students’ Association committee began investigating possible sites for a skating rink during the past week. Five sites are under consideration. President Johnson said that he was in favor of the move on the part of the Students’ Association and considers the roofing of the rink, a practical idea.

November 6, 1952

New parking regulations for dormitory residents have been approved by the State College parking committee. According to the new rules, all freshmen staying in the dormitories who do not use their cars in their work will be required to park in a lot designated by the parking committee instead of around the dorms. Students permitted to park their cars around the dormitories include sophomores, juniors and seniors; students who use their cars for work; physically handicapped students and second year or more agricultural students who are high school graduates.

November 5, 1964

South Daktota State University may face a major seating problem in the fieldhouse this basketball season. The fieldhouse, with a seating capacity of 3,390, will be expected to accomodate more than that number of students plus the season ticket holders. Temporary bleachers will be set up again and no general admission tickets will be sold for the downstairs sections. When State faced a similar seating problem in 1956 and 1957, closed circuit television was used to transmit games to some of the students.

November 2, 1977

The SDSU volleyball team won three games and lost two, finishing third in an eight-team tournament held at home last weekend. Final regular season action for the spikers is at Yankton Tuesday while district tournament play begins Friday in Sioux Falls.

November 1, 1995

Investigation continues in a Hobo Day sexual assault that occured on Oct. 14. Evidence was sent to the state crime lab and after the evidence has been analyzed, State’s Attorney Clyde Calhoon will decide whether charges can be filed. According to University Police Chief Mark Robinson, alcohol was involved and the incident occured in a dorm.
