Jobs cause most stress

The day starts out like any other, you get up, take a shower, go to class. Then you go to work. For college students, work is another stress causing factor that adds to the already high amount in their lives. According to the American Institute of Stress, work is the leading source of stress for Americans.

Libby looks at roommate problems, troubled fiance

Dear Libby, I don’t know what to do! I’m a transfer student and was placed in housing. At first my roommates seemed normal. Then, after a couple of weeks, I began to notice things that are really starting to bug me. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear that two of them were raised in a barn!! Both belch crudely quite often, and neither one seems to know how to wash dishes.

Bob Miller exhibit in its last week

Collage artist Bob Miller knows what it means to be a day dreamer. Gathering materials from magazines and catalogs that most people leaf through and toss on the coffee table, Miller finds beauty and art within the slick pages of America’s popular monthly periodicals.

Virtual Life

It’s an invasion! No, not an invasion of little green men, or even one of bloodthirsty mutant penguins but instead an invasion of little cardboard box sets. Box sets donning the title: the Sims, are invading millions of houses across America. Be warned.

Tool, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll and more drugs

The Collegian does not advocate the use of illegal drugs. This narrative is meant to be a creative recounting of actual events and nothing more. Please do not sue us. Pretty please. After the show as we drove past the same intersection for the fourth time, I thought to myself, one should have expected the night to be a bewilderingly intense extravaganza when one of the first comments of the night was “you rolled how many j’s!?” Our group had planned on going to the Tool concert for over a month and two of us were at the Lewis Ticketmaster in Sioux Falls the moment general admission tickets went on sale.

Random Drops Of Insanity

This week I’d like to address a serious problem that seems to affect more people than care to admit it. Technology addiciton. We’re not talking about shooting up with a USB cable, but it’s close. Real close. Just as the ads for Best Buy would allude to, people (mostly lonely men or bored married men) like to play with stuff.

Incubus rocks Iowa

Proving their status as one of the biggest headlining rock bands hasn’t been a challenge for Incubus over the past few months. Riding the wave of success from their double platinum album, Make Yourself the platinum Morning View, Incubus proved this at the Hilton Coliseum Oct.

Johnson event sparks protest

Senator Tim Johnson traveled to Brookings Saturday to host a community barbecue as part of his re-election bid. Over 200 area residents attended the Johnson campaign event at Mickelson Middle School. Johnson touted his work on the Senate Appropriations Committee, saying he has been able to secure funding for 70 South Dakota projects, including research funds and the Solberg Hall renovation at SDSU.

KSDJ pleads to SA

The Students’ Association heard pleas from KSDJ Station Manager for money during open forum Monday night. “The station is not doing so hot, FCC-wise and money-wise,” said Ashley Allen, the highly debated KSDJ manager. A recent survey of the station by student employees, revealed that, out of the 81 items needed for Federal Communications Commission compliance, only 32 passed the test.

Thune talks with USU crowd

Congressman John Thune brought his campaign for the U.S. Senate to the SDSU campus last Tuesday in an SDSU College Republicans-sponsored forum in the student union Market. Thune began the forum by updating the audience on the latest developments in Washington, particularly the authorization that Congress gave President Bush to use military force against Iraq.
