October 11, 1902SDSC beat Huron College in the opener of the state A.C. football season 17-0.
September 25, 1952Freshman enrollment hit 854 students, the highest since 1950. A pact was renewed between four colleges in the North Central Conference to stop campus raiding. Student Associations were made responsible for any damage done during campus raids, up to $500.
September 7, 1977Construction of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center was halted after the University ran out of funding for the project.
September 9, 1992Renovations at the University Student Union were completed, adding the second level to the bookstore and revamping the Union’s basement. The University was experiencing problems with overcrowding in the residence halls.
September 10, 1997Trey Karlen, former business manager of Prairie Reperatory Theatre, was convicted on eight counts of sex and drug related charges. Several former theater students testified that they woke up from a haze to find Karlen having sexual contact with them without their consent. Charges were filed against Karlen in Sept. 3, 1996. Karlen resigned at from his position on Sept. 11, 1996. Attendance at Prairie Rep. was higher than in previous years.
