A screening of the 1971 adaptation Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth directed by Roman Polanski will be shown at the South Dakota Art Museum on April 20 and 21.
Polanski created this version of Macbeth after his wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by the Manson “family” in 1969. The film has been noted for its violence, its expert use of location settings in North Wales and Lady Macbeth’s nude sleepwalking scene.
The film will be shown in the museum’s lower level auditorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday April 20 and at 1 p.m. on Sunday April 21.
General admission is $3.50. Students presenting SDSU identification will be admitted for $2.00. This film is sponsored in part by the William and Harriet Gould Foundation, Clarence and Margaret Denton and South Dakota State University’s Reel Images.
