Kick back at the Hemp Hoe Down

A petition drive to get 16,500 signatures to put industrialized hemp issue on the November ballot is the reason for the Second Annual Hemp Hoe Down in Hermosa. The Second Annual Hemp Hoe Down April 6 and 7 at the Elkview Campground will give people a chance to seek out the petition to sign and to financially support the South Dakota Industrial Hemp Council’s efforts to bring some legalize the growth of hemp, along with other policies.

Women close out season in ‘Elite’ style

The South Dakota State University women’s basketball took their first-ever trip to the NCAA Divisions II Elite Eight Tournament last Wednesday and Thursday in Rochester, Minn. The first round was a success. The Jacks topped Northern Kentucky by one, 68-67.

Television: With the commercials and programs, who needs reality?

A television set is an intricate part of every college student’s life. Most often at the expense of our studies (imagine that), we spend a great deal of our time staring mindlessly at the screen of this technological opiate. I, like most of my fellow peers, can’t study for longer than 20 minutes at a time in the middle of the day, but I can watch an Ab Energizer infomercial at two in the morning for well over three hours.

Our View

Topic: Legalizing the growing of hemp is beginning to become a more prominent issue in South Dakota. Our View: Perhaps it’s time to start considering hemp as a viable crop. Hold on. Don’t freak. We’re talking about legalizing growing hemp, not legalizing smoking marijuana.
