Our View

Troy Christensen, a former SDSU student who attended this university during 2000, is suing SDSU and the Board of Regents because he had to have one-third of one of his right lung removed. Christensen is contending that black mold in Berg and Bailey is to blame for his health problems.

Music Review

In the volatile, competitive hip-hop world, the elder statesmen are never forgotten. Think about it. The genre was built upon the shoulders of giants through its reinterpretation of samples from former masters of old-school funk, dance and R&B. It is only sensible that the originators and old-school innovators should receive props from the up-and-coming or still-on-top artist.

Has Wal-mart become your mecca?

Wal-mart. Outside of the back country Ozarks of Arkansas on a Saturday night, no other place in the country gets as excited about a trip to Wal-mart as good ole Brookings, S.D. I seriously believe that there are Brookings residents who couldn’t go a single day without entering the place to buy something that they could have bought after a two block walk, but instead decided the 10 minute drive was more appealing.

In our humble opinion…

Um, bad: Capers. Uh, we know that you all put a lot of work and effort into each year’s performance. But uh, dudes, that wasn’t “One Wild Night,” it was just four really long nights. Good: The NBC television show “Scrubs.” We are talking pee-your-pants kinda funny.

Writer’s block strikes the best

I am standing atop a high platform. Beneath me, throngs and throngs of people (including many beautiful maidens) are looking up at me in reverence. To them, I am more god than human. It’s a bit early, but the English Major does not dabble in the black art of procrastination and neither should you. To all the SA President and Vice President hopefuls out there, our field agents have compiled this HOW-TO on getting elected.

Six Credit Biostress Center of Excellence Class looks at Production Agriculture

Does the thought of a four credit course overwhelm you? What about a six credit course? SDSU has just such a course and it has good potential for the students involved. Integrated Management of Agricultural Resources is a six credit course being offered this spring.

Centennial Concert

On Feb. 8, the historic Christy Ballroom in Pugsley Center at SDSU will host a centennial concert. The 25-member band preformed its first concert under the direction of John Parmalee Mann on Feb. 8, 1902. In recognition of this first initial concert, the 60-member SDSU symphonic band will perform at 8 p.

Superbowl Sunday

If football were the best part of the Superbowl, then every football game would be as special as the season-ender. No, surely it’s the pregame or the extravagant halftime show or perhaps the commercials that make the Superbowl so special. Or maybe it’s a little bit deeper than that?maybe the Superbowl is a time to be with family and friends.

Capers gets mixed reviews

“One Wild Night” was the theme of SDSU’s only student-written, produced and directed theater production this year. The variety show put together by the Alpha Psi Omega Theater Fraternity featured nearly 140 students from nearly every major. This year’s show got mixed reviews.
